02 Jeep Wrangler, 84k mi, 5 mt, 4” lift, 35” tires, 4.0L I6, bumpers, winch, flat fenders...
Similar to this...
The bad; ball joints are on the way out, one CV is clicking at lock, oil pan has a small leak at the seal, and finally, grinds into 2nd.
The ball joints and CV arent a big deal, I can do those. Same with the pan seal. The trans is more than likely a synchro, or possibly the clutch. either way, I hate trans work. it would probably cost around $1,000 to have the trans rebuilt. I can buy a brand new one and do a swap for $1500, or find a used one, but it would have to come with a warranty, and LKQ (my preferred used parts vendor) does not have any in my area.
$7,800 out the door.

You’re realistically looking at ~$9500 after reporting costs. To need ball joints at 84k miles seems really early, especially if they’re as bad as you say. Plus the trans issue?
Seems like it was beat on hard. Unless you really want the mods that it has, $9k or so can buy you a much less molested Jeep, at least in my area.

not out here. 02’s with 100k + are retailing (private party as well) for 14 - 15k
the ball joints arent bad, but I can see the signs they are starting to go. the CVs are common on our trails out here. And yes, I do realize I would be in if for about 10 all said and done.

I thought only grand Cherokees came with CVs. TJs should be u-joints >
Has it been regeared? Full size spare? Lockers?
Is this something to drive or beat on & drive?
I think it's an ok price not many TJs will be under 100K for long.
